'Welcome to Melbourne' - host a student for dinner
Alumni are invited to host an international student in their home for dinner.
Get the chance to meet one of the new international AusAID students. This could be the chance to develop a lifelong friendship!
For the University of Melbourne's international AusAID students, a local connection also means knowing there's someone close by who can offer support, advice or just a friendly face.
In the initial stages of their experience, international students face challenges that are unique to those of Australian students. They need to understand local geography, language, cultural and social norms, adjust to differences in food and climate, and come to terms with the expectations about their responsibilities and their study.
Having a local contact who is familiar with the University of Melbourne can have an enormous impact on each student's integration into life in Melbourne.
This year sees the biggest ever intake of AusAID students for the University and we are urgently looking for 100 alumni to help enrich these students' experiences at the University and in Melbourne.
To take part, register by Wednesday 15 February at: http://alumni.unimelb.edu.au/get-involved/volunteering/welcome-melbourne
